![]() If you are going "casual" hiking on your local trails in winter where there is snow, wind, below freezing temps and etc, then this jacket will prove very handy. I am a pretty tough grader and dont give a lot of 5-star ratings. You dont have to climb the Kilimanjaro genius, its literally a hike. The Arc’teryx Fission SV mittens are a top pick for anyone who gets out in the cold every day and needs something that can keep up with that amount of use. You'll notice nobody is wearing that jacket while out on a "hike". Waterproof: Yes (Gore-Tex) What We Like: Low-profile warmth. ![]() So yes, this jacket will fully protect you from rain which is probably why Arcteryx considers this jacket on the SV category. Also, if you look closely at the specs, this jacket uses a n80p shell that is twice as hard as Beta SL's N40 denier. The Arcteryx seems to be rated upto -20C vs -15 for CG (also not a deal breaker). The Arcteryx is packabale (not a deal breaker) and has 850 fill goose down (CG is 800 goose down) but I dont know the weight, which is more important. ![]() The jacket is fully waterproof with a goretex membrane and tapered seams, water isnt penetrating it. The CG fabric seems thicker and more durable and also looks a bit better. The fact that the jacket might be too warm when its raining doesnt affect its capability to protect you from it. Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2019. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. A high-price-point synthetic insulated model will have limited appeal. Sorry but one thing doesnt have anything to do with the other. FISSION SV JACKET MENS - The Fission delivers a high level of warmth with waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX protection. The Arcteryx Fission SV is an excellent jacket, with a unique configuration. Dig? Have a good one. It's good for if you might get a drizzle on you or something, but generally it's not something you want to wear when it's raining, because if it's raining it's almost surely too warm to wear. Arcteryx Fission SV Glove Review Robert E Sell 358 subscribers 41 3.2K views 1 year ago In this Arcteryx Fission SV Glove Review, I go over all the reasons I like this glove. With the Fee of Fees airline billing process we fight, its important to choose clothing that will fill the gaps w/o overfilling your TravelPro. Beta SV is an inch longer than the AR (31 vs 30 inches, or 79 vs 76 cm). Too, many of us “outdoor” types have to air our way to the mountains to kick it. So, I’ll wrap it up by saying that some vendors (yes I know I didn’t mention which one) WILL bargain (even on Arcteryx). It combines the proven performance of Fortius 1.0 with a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX. First, the vendor I ordered from sold me the thing for 50% off (yes that’s $350…mostly because people wanted the black jacket) and secondly it crosses the line for a skier like myself who needs a dual-purpose jacket (warm ski jacket, around town jacket) to make trip/airline packing that much simpler and lighter (an important discussion I didn’t see mentioned). The Fission SV Glove is the warmest offering from Arcteryx. Whether they'll fit you nicely or be sufficiently warm is an entirely different and subjective question. ![]() I haven't used the Fission SV Mitt but did use the gloves: great piece of kit, warmer than the previous Fission Gloves and maybe as warm as the previous Fission Mitt. ![]() Anyway, my two cents falls this way: I bought an “Aztec Orange” Fission SL in men’s large and an very pleased. I own the Fission SV Glove as well as the the SV Mitt. Nice discussion here…I get really tired of discourse getting polarized and (almost) inevitably falling into the argument abyss. ![]()
